It depends. Please have an honest discussion with your academic advisor. You need to consider whether you can truly do well in a fast paced summer course. Normal courses are 16 weeks long, but summer courses have all of the same content and requirements crammed into 4 or 8 weeks.

If you have been suspended, you need to sit out one regular semester. Use the time to prepare yourself to come back to WIU.

If you have extenuating circumstances, you can appeal to CAGAS for Special Readmission.

For Fall and Spring semesters, you must have completed 12 credit hours of letter graded courses. Courses that are graded S or U do not count toward the 12 credit hours.

In the Summer term, you must complete 6 credit hours of letter graded courses. Courses that are graded S or U do not count toward the 12 credit hours.

If you earned semester honors (also referred to as the Dean’s List), the statement SEMESTER HONORS will appear on your transcript.

No, grades earned at another college or university will not improve your GPA at WIU. However, those courses may still help you earn your degree at WIU. Talk to your academic advisor to find out which courses will be the best for you.

If you have extenuating circumstances, you may appeal to CAGAS for a late withdrawal. If approved, the grade will change to a W, which will have no impact on your GPA.

Your WIU Summer grades have to raise your cumulative GPA to a 2.00 in order to come back to WIU in the Fall. If your cumulative GPA is still below a 2.00, you will be required to sit out the Fall semester.

You should fill out the Reentry Form. If you have any holds on your account (such as billing holds or immunization holds), you will need to clear all holds before you will be able to register for classes.

An honor point deficiency means that your grades total to less than a C average, or a cumulative GPA of less than 2.00.

These students will be placed on Academic Warning, Academic Probation, Suspension, or Dismissal as determined by previous academic standing.

After you have been suspended or dismissed, your current registration(s) are deleted. If you were suspended or dismissed after spring and would like to attend during the Summer term, you may re-enroll in courses for summer at WIU. If you were suspended or dismissed after summer or fall and would like to attend during the summer, fill out the Reentry Form.

There are many different types of holds. To view your holds, go to STARS, select Academics, then Registration - Add/Drop. Each hold will give you directions on where to go to have it resolved.

After a summer or fall dismissal, you will need to submit a Reentry Form prior to each Summer term. You may only return to WIU during the Summer terms until you have achieved a 2.00 cumulative GPA.
