Early Childhood Education

Scholarship Opportunities – WIU-QC students can access financial support through programs like the Great River Teacher Corps and statewide initiatives such as Golden Apple Scholars. Hands-On Classroom Experience – Students engage in tutoring, teacher-assistant roles, and observations in local schools before completing student teaching.

Access to Core Resources – QC students benefit from University-wide materials, including the Children’s Literature Examination Center and Curriculum Library, with support and access coordinated through the QC campus.

Early Learning Center – WIU-QC’s new Early Learning Center in Moline, IL, will soon provide hands-on training in early childhood education, offering practical experience in a state-of-the-art learning environment.

Just Hired: Bel Schable

Just Hired: Bel Schable

Meet Bel Schable, a graduate of Western Illinois University's Nursing program, who was recently hired by Springfield Clinic Orthopedic Surgery, where she works primarily in the outpatient clinic setting and part-time in the operating room alongside other surgeons.

Online Bachelor of Science in Information Systems

WIU to Offer Online Bachelor of Science in Information Systems

The Western Illinois University School of Computer Sciences is expanding its academic offerings with the launch of a fully online Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, beginning Spring 2026. This new program builds on the School of Computer Sciences longstanding expertise in delivering face-to-face and online instruction.

A total of 970 undergraduate students enrolled at Western Illinois University were named to the Fall 2025 Dean's List. The total includes 63 students at the WIU-Quad Cities Campus.
