Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national, and international students, Western Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.

MOLINE, IL –– Meet Kayla Adams, a Western Illinois University Museum Studies graduate, who was recently hired at Carelinks ABA Therapy as an in-home ABA Therapist for children with autism.

Adams did a job shadow with the company before applying online. She had two interviews and was offered the position.

"The first was about a 15-minute phone call, just talking about my interest and how I heard about the job. The second was a little different. It was also a short phone call, but with a new VP of Client Management. Five minutes after that phone call ended, the founder called and offered me a job," Adams said.

Adams shares that she learned a lot from her degree at WIU. It gave her the chance to learn about many different aspects of the museum world and skills that are transferable to different fields.

"The skills that I learned while doing this aren't confined to the classroom or the museum. They transfer to just about any job field. One thing I reinforced while at WIU was my want to have a job where I have the chance to improve others' lives," Adams said.
