Gray Named School of Accounting & Business Administration Interim Director

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Gray as the Interim Director, School of Accounting & Business Administration, effective June 30, 2025.
"I am sincerely grateful for this opportunity and look forward to contributing to the continued success of the College of Business & Technology and advancing the mission of Western Illinois University," Gray said.
Gray joined WIU in 1997 and has held a variety of academic and administrative roles, including serving as associate professor of Finance and former assistant to the director for the School of Accounting, Finance, Economics and Decision Sciences (AFED).
Gray brings a strong background in finance, business ownership and community engagement. Before entering academia, he worked as an account executive for Farm Credit Services, where he managed a diversified agricultural loan portfolio and led new business development initiatives. He also worked in the High-Risk Assets Division of the Farm Credit Bank of St. Louis. In addition to his finance career, Gray has been actively involved in the ownership and management of several small family businesses in the Macomb area, including A-1 Security Lock Shop.
He has extensive experience supporting industry and community engagement initiatives through leadership on multiple advisory boards and faculty governance committees. He has played a key role in Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation efforts and has organized numerous alumni, industry and community panels to enhance experiential learning, promote financial literacy and build critical professional networks for students.
"Dr. Gray brings a wealth of experience, institutional knowledge, and a deep commitment to student success and community engagement to this role," Tara Feld, interim dean of the College of Business and Technology said. "His leadership and collaborative spirit will be instrumental in advancing our mission and strengthening connections between the School of Accounting & Business Administration and our industry and alumni partners."
