About Me
Dr. Melissa Stinnett is a Professor of Literacy Education at Western Illinois University in the School of Education where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses and serves as the Reading Graduate Coordinator for the graduate program. She earned her Ph.D. in Literacy at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Il. She is involved in the state organization, Illinois Reading Council, serving as Vice President. Dr. Stinnett has had much experience with early literacy instruction, teaching Reading Recovery, kindergarten, first, and second grades. She is a frequent presenter at state, national and international literacy conferences.
