Jesse Risley earned his MS in Educational Leadership from Western Illinois University and he also earned a BS in History (educational sequence) from Illinois State University. He teaches undergraduate courses in Social Studies Education at the middle and secondary levels in the department. He also teaches undergraduate Multicultural and Social Foundations of Education coursework in the department as well.

Mr. Risley has spent the entirety of his full-time professional teaching career working for Macomb CUSD 185 teaching social science courses in grades 9-12, including AP European History, U.S. History, Sociology, Geography, Psychology, Civics/Political Science, and Economics.

Mr. Risley has participated in several U.S. history grants for area middle level and high school American history teachers funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Mr. Risley has also participated in several cultural exchange and travel abroad programs, including the Macomb-Denmark Exchange, which all seek to expose local high school students to diverse cultures via travel experiences in other countries to enhance their educational opportunities.

As part of numerous school improvement initiatives and collaborative learning communities in an applied setting at the 9-12 grade level, Mr. Risley has extensive practice in instructional design within the social studies classroom, as well as social-emotional learning, and using data-driven analyses for setting school improvement and instructional goals.
