Military Appreciation Week begins Saturday

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University's Veterans Resource Center (VRC) will celebrate Military Appreciation Week with events taking place from Saturday, Nov. 8 through Friday, Nov. 14.
The events will start with Military Appreciation day during the Leatherneck football game against Lindenwood at Hanson Field on Saturday, Nov. 8. The VRC will host a tailgate in Q Lot from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. ahead of kickoff at 1 p.m. Attendees can RSVP at veteransresources@wiu.edu.
From 3:30-4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, the VRC will hold a 250th birthday celebration for the U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps. During the celebration the VRC will put together holiday care packages for deployed students.
A Veteran's Day tribute ceremony will be held from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 on the south side of Hanson Field to honor veterans and service members and the week will be capped off with the annual Tug of War competition from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 at the Campus Rec Center.

Tuesday, Nov. 11
11 a.m.-12 p.m. - Veterans Day Tribute Ceremony, South Side of Hanson Field (will be held in the University Union Heritage Room if there is inclement weather).
7:30 p.m. - Wind Ensemble Veterans Concert Recital, COFAC Recital Hall
Thursday, Nov. 13
5:30 p.m. - Candlelight Vigil, VRC
Friday, Nov. 14
5-7 p.m. - Tug of War, Campus Rec Center
