MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) and Council of Administrative Personnel (COAP) announced the winners of the Homecoming Door Decorating Contest on Thursday, Oct. 16.

Faculty and Staff departments were challenged to show off their creativity, team spirit and love for WIU. One department stood out above the rest, with the Office of Public Safety and Parking Services taking first prize.

OPS and Parking Services decorated their Mowbray Hall door with a movie-theatre scene, complete with a popcorn maker and fog machine. First place earned them a $100 Gelsosomo's gift card, donated with the help of a gift from an anonymous donor.

The other winners and prizes were:

  • 2nd - Vice President of Student Success - $45 gift card to Bold Brew

  • 3rd - Purchasing office - $40 gift card to Sports Corner

  • 4th - College of Business & Technology Advising Center - Brownies from the Old Dairy

  • 5th - School of Nursing - Brownies from the Old Dairy

Earning honorable mention were the Veterans Resource Center, University Communications & Marketing and Foundation & Development. Each honorable mention winner earned a $20 gift card to the WIU Bookstore.

More than 30 groups participated in the contest that brought morale and homecoming spirit on campus.

"CSEC & COAP were excited to collaborate and bring this event back to campus this year and were thrilled with the level of participation we had," Director of Student Rights & Responsibilities Kelly Severs said. "Seeing so many departments and areas across campus show their love for WIU and brighten up buildings made for an exciting addition to Homecoming Week. We are already looking forward to seeing the creativity next year!"
