Forbes Names WIU to Top 10 For Best Online Master's Programs in Sociology

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University has been ranked among the top 10 institutions nationwide in the Best Online Master's Programs in Sociology list by Forbes, earning the No. 10 position.

According to the report, WIU stands out for its strong student support and competitive tuition rate of $394 per credit hour for in-state students. The University also maintains a 14-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio, tied for the lowest among ranked institutions, and reports some of the highest median earnings for alumni 10 years after graduation.

WIU's online Master of Arts in Sociology program offers thesis, non-thesis, and internship pathways designed to prepare graduates for careers in human services, government organizations and business. The program emphasizes one-on-one mentoring and provides students with a four-year cost guarantee.

The 31- to 37-credit-hour program includes coursework in areas such as classical theory and the sociology of mental health. The Higher Learning Commission accredits the program and does not require in-person attendance.
