Just Hired: Macy Benge

Through the experiences of local, regional, national, and international students, Western Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series features students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.

MACOMB, IL — Meet Macy Benge, a Western Illinois University Accounting major, who was recently hired by RSM, a public accounting firm. Benge earned her bachelor's degree of Business in Accountancy in Spring 2024 and her graduate degree in Accountancy in Spring 2025.

Benge first connected with RSM through Meet the Firms, WIU's annual accounting and finance career fair. After participating in a couple of virtual interviews, she secured an internship with the company — and following a successful internship experience, was offered a full-time position.

"I learned to get involved," Benge said. "Joining Beta Alpha Psi and going to the career fair helped me secure this internship and the full-time position. My major helped me because the accounting field has a lot of options for paid internships that could lead to jobs, and the teachers are always pointing these out and encouraging us to go to the career fairs."

As she begins her professional career, Benge hopes to stay connected to WIU by maintaining ties with Beta Alpha Psi and potentially returning to campus to share her experiences with current students.
