WIU Department of Art & Design to Host October “First Wednesday” Event

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Department of Art & Design will host its upcoming "First Wednesday" event from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex and the University Art Gallery.

WIU Art & Design faculty and students will collaborate to provide creative, hands-on projects across a wide range of media. This monthly program is open and free to the public.

Activities for Oct. 1 include:

Halloween Mask Drawings – Professor Tim Waldrop, Garwood 3

Medieval Monster Scavenger Hunt and Coloring Contest with Prizes – Professor Sherry Lindquist, Garwood 10

Silkscreened Fall-Themed Lanterns – Professor Susan Czechowski, Garwood 11

Spooky Halloween Drawing on ID Card Holder – Professor Ta-Teh Ku, Garwood 24

Surrealist Collage Workshop – Professor Damon McArthur, Garwood 25

Heating Plant Annex
Glow in the Dark Shambala Bracelets – Professor Kat Myers, HPA 107

Cosmic Wheel Throwing – Professor Ian Shelly, HPA 111

The University Art Gallery will also be open during the event, featuring the Biennial Art & Design Faculty Exhibition in the Second Floor Gallery, on view Sept. 15–Oct. 24.

Please note: the Garwood Hall elevator is currently out of order and attendees will need to climb stairs to access activities in that building.
