Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Western Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.

MACOMB, IL - - Meet Jon Kelley, a Western Illinois University graduate student in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program for secondary history, who was recently hired at Alleman Catholic High School in Rock Island.

When Kelley saw the job posting, he immediately applied for the opportunity. His studies at WIU helped him through the interview process, discussing classroom management style and keeping students engaged, leading to him landing the position.

"The MAT program and the Educational Science courses I have taken, along with the absolutely great professors that instructed the courses at WIU, definitely prepared me to answer the questions asked by the school administrators," Kelley said.

As Kelley educates the students at Alleman Catholic, he plans on working with WIU's professors and staying on top of the latest educational trends through WIU.

"I'm going to continue taking courses, probably for the majority of my life!" Kelley said.
