WIU Continues To Be Recognized By U.S. News & World Report For 2026

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University continues to earn recognition for its academic excellence and commitment to student success in the 2026 U.S. News and World Report rankings.
WIU has been ranked in the "Regional Universities Midwest," Top Public Schools, Regional" and "Social Mobility, Regional," categories, providing quality education and encouraging student achievement.
WIU President Kristi Mindrup commends the WIU community, faculty, staff and students for their efforts in providing a standout educational experience.
"Western Illinois University is once again highly ranked and well regarded by the U.S. News and World Report," WIU President Kristi Mindrup said. "I am especially proud of our ranking in social mobility as Western continues to be a leader in education opportunity."
The U.S. News Best Colleges rankings evaluate institutions on multiple criteria, including graduation and retention rates, social mobility, faculty resources, financial resources, student excellence and alumni giving. These accolades highlight WIU's ongoing efforts to adapt to workforce needs and provide a robust educational experience.
