WIU Residence Hall Move-In Starts Aug 21

MACOMB, IL - - Get ready to move into your new home! Residence Halls at Western Illinois University will open for all students to move in beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.

Welcome Crew volunteers will be helping students move into their residence hall rooms from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 and Friday, Aug. 22.

Before arriving on campus, students are advised to consult the packing list and move-in guide for the Fall 2025 semester. This information can be found on the move-in website, at wiu.edu/movein.

Peak move-in times are usually from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Students are encouraged to use the recommended target times based on their home's proximity to campus to help distribute move-in traffic and reduce wait times. The times do not need to be strictly followed.

The recommendations are:


  • 8-9 a.m. for students 0-75 miles from campus

  • 9-10 a.m. for students 76-125 miles from campus

  • 10-11 a.m.for students 126-150 miles from campus

  • 11 a.m.-noon for students 151-175 miles from campus

  • Noon-1 p.m. for students 176-200 miles from campus

  • After 1 p.m. for students over 200 miles from campus


The Office of Public Safety (OPS) will be directing traffic. Directions to the Residence halls can be found in the move-in guide.
