WIU Family Day BBQ Competition Set for September 13

MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University Office of Student Engagement and the School of Agriculture are excited to host the seventh annual Family Day BBQ Competition & Tasting from 2-5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13 in Q Lot, bringing together students, families, alumni and community members for a day full of food, fun and Leatherneck pride.

This year's Family Day BBQ will feature:
Live music from Newhouse Band
Family-friendly activities for all ages
Unique vendors
A competitive bag tournament
A sizzling BBQ showdown for the title of Best BBQ
A public tasting featuring brisket, ribs and each team's People's Choice specialty items

The festivities will culminate in the Leathernecks football game at Hanson Field, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.

"The Family Day BBQ is one of WIU's most beloved traditions," Nick Katz, director of Student Engagement, said. "It's an opportunity for our campus and community to come together and celebrate what makes Western so special — great food, great people and great Leatherneck spirit."
