Just Hired: Mackenzie Kolodziejski
July 18, 2025

Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Western Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.
MACOMB, IL - - Meet Mackenzie Kolodziejski, a Western Illinois University Agriculture Education graduate, who has been hired by the Louisa-Muscatine Community School District.
Kolodziejski found the opening on IowaWorks and a rigorous application; she was offered the position.
"I filled out a very lengthy application for both an agriculture teacher and substitute teacher. The HR department reached out to have me come fill out substitute paperwork while the superintendent and principal were still working things out on the agriculture department side of things," Kolodziejski said. "That appointment turned into an interview and a week later, they offered me a job!"
During her time as a student, Kolodziejski learned the essentials to succeed in her professional career as an educator.
"I learned so much at my time at WIU," Kolodziejski said. "I learned how to write and structure lesson plans, how to differentiate instruction for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and so much more."
As a proud alumna, Kolodziejski plans to remain involved with WIU and continue the process of obtaining the endorsements on her license.
