Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Western Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.

MACOMB, IL - - Meet Jacquelyn Eddlemon, a Western Illinois University Specialist in School Psychology graduate, who has been hired as a school psychologist by Tazewell Mason Special Education Association (TMCSEA) in Pekin.

"TMCSEA is a co-op organization that provides specialty services to schools within Tazewell and Mason counties," Eddlemon said. "Other professionals hired through TMCSEA include behavior analysts, speech pathologists, social workers, occupational therapists, vision teachers and hearing specialists."

To land this position, Eddlemon drew on her previous experience with the company as a graduate assistant and intern.

"While completing graduate school, I worked as a graduate assistant for TMCSEA," Eddlemon said. "I completed my internship with this company and knew it was where I wanted to begin my career."

As a professional, Eddlemon leans on the foundation she built at WIU through her various academic experiences.

"Ultimately, my time at WIU helped me build confidence," Eddlemon said. "Participating in class every day and continuing to build on the knowledge I was getting within the school was amazing. Connecting the real world with the classwork made it much easier to understand and build my confidence in the profession."

To stay involved with WIU, Eddlemon plans to keep advocating for the Specialist in School Psychology program.

"I would like to continue sharing my positive experience I had in the program," Eddlemon said.
