WIU School of Music Presents Symphony Orchestra Concert

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University School of Music presents a Symphony Orchestra Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 2 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.
The WIU Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Rich Cangro, interim director of orchestras and director of Music Education, will be performing works by Lili Boulanger, Carl Maria von Weber, Silvestre Revueltas and Howard Hanson. The Ensemble will be joined by guest soloist Eric Ginsberg. Ginsberg has been a professor of clarinet and clarinetist in the Camerata Woodwind Quintet, in residence at WIU, since 1996 and will be retiring at the end of this semester.

Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 73 - Maria von Weber

II. Adagio ma non troppo
III. Rondo: Allegretto

INTERMISSION
Symphony No. 2 in D-flat Major, Op. 30, W45 - Hanson (1896-1981)
I. Adagio — Allegro moderato
II. Andante con tenerezza
III. Allegro con brio
