Brown-Edwards Named COAP February EOM
March 5, 2025

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University New Student and Family Programs Advisor Tammie Leigh Brown-Edwards has been named the Council of Administrative Personnel (COAP) Employee of the Month for February.
"One of the new responsibilities our office recently acquired is to facilitate a Student Success initiative which rewards Chicago public school students who attend/participate in various events on campus. While this program was started in another office, Tammie Leigh has taken it above and beyond," a nominator said.
"I have had the pleasure of working with Tammie Leigh on the Chicago Public School's (CPS) Promising Practice Innovation Fund (PPIF). Throughout the course of this year she has demonstrated an extreme commitment to ensuring the retention of CPS alumni attending WIU. The level of attention she has provided to each student she supports is beyond impressive and is clearly driven by her passion for student success. Knowing that our CPS students have an advocate like Tammie Leigh on campus gives us a greater sense of confidence that our graduates will get what they need to achieve their academic goals at WIU."
The COAP Employee of the Month award aims to acknowledge exceptional performance by WIU employees who go above and beyond their regular duties, based on specific criteria. Nominations can come from supervisors, colleagues, faculty, students, staff or members of the community. The monthly winners receive a reserved parking space for one month and recognition from the University.
If you know of an employee who deserves recognition, nominations can be submitted at wiu.edu/human_resources/eom.
