Western Courier Earns Recognition at ICPA

MACOMB, IL - - The staff of the Western Courier, Western Illinois University's online student newspaper, earned four awards at the Illinois College Press Association's annual conference from Feb. 28-March 1.

"I'm so incredibly proud of our staff. All of these awards came from one semester of work. I can't imagine what we'll do based on a whole year of work," Samantha Haney, Western Courier editor in chief and sophomore Broadcasting and Journalism student, said. "It's such an honor to be recognized at the state level and it wouldn't be possible without the wonderful Western Courier staff."

The Courier earned honorable mention for "general excellence - web," in addition to three individual awards:

Samantha Haney, Best News Story - second place
Emile Limoges, Best News Story - third place
Addy Wingard, Best Sports Photo - honorable mention
