WIU Math Club Hosting Presentation

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Math Club invites students to join the presentation by speaker Kinshuk Mangal from 3-4 p.m. Friday, March 7, in Morgan Hall 224.

From the Department of Mathematics and Philosophy, the WIU Math Club will be hosting a presentation with student speaker Kinshuk Mangal, a Mathematics major focusing on data science and statistics.

Mangal will present "Modeling Real-World Systems with Markov Chains," where he will address key properties of finite Markov Chains, computational techniques for finding steady-state distributions and their applications in real-world problems. The speaker will also engage in analysis of examples and discussions that will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of how Markov chains can be used to model uncertainty in a variety of fields, from meteorology to finance.

The WIU Math Club welcomes anyone interested in participating. Those interested in participating online via Zoom.
