44th Geodeland Rock and Mineral Show Held at WIU

MACOMB, IL - - The Geodeland Earth Science Clubs, Inc. (GESCI) will hold its Annual Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 8, and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 9 at the Western Illinois University Union Ballroom.

The theme of this year's 44th annual Geodeland Show is "Petrified Wood." A featured display in the center of the room exhibits specimens of petrified wood. There will also be a featured display of mineral specimens from the Linwood Mine near Buffalo, IA.

The GESCI Show will feature eleven mineral, fossil and jewelry dealers. Exhibits will include items found in Western Illinois and other parts of the state and other items from around the world.

The show is set to offer family fun and entertainment, with plenty of activities for kids, an escape room, a fluorescent display, a silent auction, geode cracking and lapidary skills demonstrations. There will also be a door grand prize and hourly door prizes.

Food service will be offered in the lower level of the Student Union, on both days from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Registration tables will have printed programs and sign-ups for the prizes. Kids will receive two tickets at the registration table for different activities.

Admission to the show and parking are free. Donations for next year's show are accepted.
