WIU Ag Students Shine at Illinois Spring PAS Competition

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University agriculture students recently showcased their skills and leadership at the Illinois Spring Postsecondary Agricultural Students (PAS) competition, bringing home multiple top placements and leadership honors.

WIU Ag student Amanda Niemann was elected as the Illinois PAS third vice-president and placed ninth in Impromptu Speaking. Reflecting on the experience, Niemann emphasized the impact of PAS on the next generation of agricultural leaders.

"PAS is such a unique experience that brings together the next generation of agricultural leaders. I look forward to serving State PAS this year and helping create opportunities to further our connections," Niemann said.

Other notable achievements by WIU representatives included:

Elleanor Robinson – First place in Animal Health
Adam Vail – Second place in Prepared Public Speaking
Soils Team – Sixth place (Edward Byrd, Amanda Niemann, Maddison Oliver)

PAS provides students with opportunities to develop and refine their career skills through competitive events, leadership roles and networking with industry professionals. WIU continues to cultivate strong agricultural leaders through its hands-on learning experiences and professional development initiatives.
