Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Western Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.

MACOMB, IL - - Meet Shelby Doyle, a Western Illinois University Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design graduate, who has been hired by Sight and Sound Films, an entertainment company based in Lancaster County, PA.

Doyle works as the costume craft artisan in the film costume department at Sight and Sound Films, a company dedicated to producing live entertainment with a purpose.

"I found this job listed on the off-stage jobs website and applied there," Doyle said. "I was then contacted to interview over Google Teams with the costume shop manager and designer to discuss my previous experience working on a film and my work specializing in costume crafts."

Doyle credits her time at WIU with preparing her with valuable skills and setting her up for success.

"During my time at WIU I learned the importance of teamwork and collaboration to effectively work in a costume shop and how to understand what my designer and director want from me for costume pieces," Doyle said. "I have also learned many new techniques and skills for costume craftwork and sewing. The biggest thing I've learned and utilized is how to work together and with others to accomplish a large goal and project."

As a way to express her gratitude and stay connected to the WIU community, Doyle plans to create opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to gain experience.

"I will offer up job opportunities to undergraduate and graduate level students from companies or professional projects I work on. I love supporting my fellow theater professionals," Doyle said.
