Just Hired: Tanner Blum
February 6, 2025

MACOMB, IL - - Meet Tanner Blum, a Western Illinois University Physical Education program graduate who works for Norwood Elementary School in Peoria.
Blum, a Spring 2024 graduate, works with grades 5-8 in his position, as well as the seventh and eighth-grade basketball coach. He feels WIU helped plant him in this role.
"I learned the importance of structured class time along with numerous games/activities that I currently use in my classes," Blum said. "I also learned how to tie the Illinois Standards to the units I teach."
Blum was able to get some opportunities through fellow graduates during his time at WIU, including finding a fellow Leatherneck to supervise his student-teaching, something he hopes to give back in the future.
