January 30, 2025
Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Western Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.
MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - Meet Kate Senger, a Western Illinois University Music Education program graduate who has accepted a position as a general music, band and choir teacher at Marked Tree School District in Market Tree, AR.
"I could not imagine a better first job," Senger said. "Everyone is very supportive and wants the best for all students. It feels as though you've been there a lifetime when it's only been three months."
Senger primarily relied on LinkedIn during her job search process.
"I received an email asking for a Zoom interview as I lived eight hours away," Senger said. "After the interview, I was given a phone call a few hours later."
Through her unique degree path, Senger felt WIU prepared her to be an excellent educator and shaped her into the best version of herself.
"I was given the skills to become the most well-rounded educator I could be. My professors and peers also helped me become the person I am today," Senger said.
Senger intends to stay connected with WIU through social media and aspires to bring her students to visit.
"I am staying in touch through social media. When we are established, I hope to bring my band up to WIU," Senger said.
