MACOMB, IL - Taylor Holan, a senior English major, has joined the Division of Advancement & Alumni Relations as an advancement communications intern for the spring 2025 semester.

As the inaugural recipient of this internship, Holan will author news releases highlighting university donors and major gifts to For the W: The Campaign for Western Illinois University. Holan will also serve on the editorial board for "Western: The Magazine for Alumni of Western Illinois University."

Holan, originally from Burlington, IA, brings plenty of writing and editing experience to the advancement communications internship. She has been on the staff of "The Mirror and the Lamp" as a writer and editor since the fall of 2023 and is the social media manager for Sigma Tau Delta.

"We are excited to have Taylor joining our team for this semester," Vice President for Advancement, Alumni Relations and Athletics Clare Thompson said. "This internship is a wonderful opportunity for Taylor to gain hands-on experience in storytelling and communications, while also helping us share the impactful stories of our donors, students and alumni. We are confident Taylor will make a meaningful contribution to our efforts."

Holan transferred to WIU from Southeastern Community College. She is set to graduate in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in English with an option in Literature and Language and a minor in Creative Writing.
