Schulz Named January EOM

MACOMB, IL – – Western Illinois University employee Amanda Schulz, assistant director of the Graduate Office has been named the January 2025 Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month.
Schulz has been a vital member of WIU, exemplifying dedication, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to supporting students, faculty and staff.
Her nominator highlighted Schulz's exceptional contributions to Graduate Studies, including her ability to provide patient and thorough assistance, even when facing repetitive questions or challenging circumstances. Known for her calm demeanor and dedication to others, Schulz has consistently gone above and beyond her job responsibilities.
The nominator shared an instance of Schulz managing a particularly hectic office environment. She answered phones and addressed numerous requests while remaining attentive and professional. Despite being short-staffed and handling an increased workload, Schulz ensured that all individuals received her full attention and assistance.
Schulz's efforts embody the spirit of collaboration and commitment to excellence, making her an invaluable part of the WIU community.
As the January 2025 Civil Service Employee of the Month, Schulz will receive a $100 stipend (before taxes), a plaque, a reserved parking space and recognition in WIU communications. She will also be eligible for the Civil Service Employee of the Year Award in December.
The Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month Award was established in 2010 through an endowment created by the Goldfarbs. The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the annual Employee of the Year Award.
