WIU Writing Center Open to All Students

MACOMB, IL – The University Writing Center at Western Illinois University is open to graduate and undergraduate students in any academic discipline.
The center, which serves the Macomb and Quad Cities campuses, employs graduate and undergraduate students with a variety of backgrounds, including computer science, instructional design and technology, liberal arts and sciences, theatre and psychology. The student employees can help students with any part of their writing process and walk-ins are welcome.
Help for students is available with writing projects ranging from essays and lab reports to cover letters or a thesis. The mission of the Writing Center is to offer students at any academic level a collaborative, one-on-one consultation with writing projects during any part of the writing process.
The University Writing Center was started in Sallee Hall in 1965 by the English Department Chair John F. Castle. The center later moved to Simpkins Hall along with the Department of English and Journalism and was moved to Malpass Library in August 2012.
Current campus Writing Center locations include:
• Malpass Library, third floor – Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
• Malpass Library, second floor – Sunday – Thursday, 6-9 p.m.
• Simpkins Hall, room 25 – Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
• Bayliss Hall, basement – Sunday – Thursday, 6-9 p.m.
• Tanner Hall, room 108 – Sunday – Thursday 6-9 p.m.
