Distance Education: ILL Services
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is available for our students who are not physically on either campus.
To qualify for this service, you must:- be an active student enrolled exclusively in online WIU courses and
- live more than 40 miles away from both the Macomb and Quad Cities campuses
How does it work? WIU Distance Learners should treat all requests as Interlibrary Loan, even if you are requesting books belonging to WIU Libraries. Use the standard ILL forms for all items.
- Books ordered through I-Share must be picked up at a library, but you can choose *any* I-Share library as your "Preferred Pickup Institution" from the pulldown menu in the request form. If you can't pick up anywhere, then order everything through ILLiad. This will take longer.
- If no I-Share library is convenient for pick-up, order everything through ILLiad.
- Books ordered through ILLiad will come to the library, and then we will mail them to you. You are responsible for sending them back to us.
- Article ordering and delivery is all online through ILLiad, so the service is the same regardless of where you are.
Is there a cost? The price of mailing items back to Malpass Library is your only cost. There are no additional fees associated with ths service, as long as items are returned on time and in good condition.
