Four Lists of Interest
Getting ready for the new school year, I came across a few nice lists for teachers.
Teachers (and teachers-to-be) are awesome! They are:
- A unique type of leader,
- Engaging students' minds,
- Building understanding in their students, and
- Getting things done.
Lists
The Four I's of Teacher Leadership - Classroom teachers have many skills for making contributions. Here are some ideas on being a leader, while still remaining a classroom teacher. In particular, 4 questions to ask.
11 Rules for Engaging Students' Brains - A nice summary from brain-based learning research (source). For more see this Brain-Based Learning and Learning Theories page.
Six Facets of Understanding - on page 5 of a comprehensive paper (written by Jay McTighe and Grant Wiggens) titled, "Improve Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction Using the Understanding by Design® [UbD] Framework." The whole paper is good but I was particularly interested in the six facets of understanding.
