Four Committees ~ Final Exam - In-class Portion

The who, what, where, when, why, and how of using technology in
the mathematics classroom to help students understand mathematics.
Below are 4 tasks to be carried out by the 4 committees (2 people each) in our class to compile
a summary of the information class members have
contributed.

Tasks/Questions
- Task #1: What web sites are useful
for helping students learn
- algebra and functions
- geometry
- statistics
[Organize by the three subject areas. When possible put the name of the web site and the URL to the specific page (not just the URL to the front/main page).]
- Task #2: What computer programs are useful
for helping students learn
- algebra and functions
- geometry
- statistics
[Organize by the three subject areas. Provide brief and helpful information about the software (e.g., is it free?). Include the name of the web site where it can be downloaded or purchased.]
- Task #3: Make a list of mathematical ideas or concepts which can be illuminated
(made clearer) by the use of these programs, calculators, and web sites?
- Algebra (Example: "Solving equations.")
- Functions. (Example: "The concept of the range
of a function can be taught using the TRACE feature
on the graphics calculator.")
