Highlights for workshop:
- Frosted Cake Investigation - A cube of cake is dropped into a vat of frosting....This investigation links number patterns, 3D geometry, and algebra. (Hint/spoiler alert: Four functions are generated, from degree 0 through degree 3. The degree of the polynomial function corresponds to the degree of the geometrical object it is representing.)
- Profit of a Company (Illustrative Mathematics)
- Horseshoes in Flight (NCTM)
Course Specific Mental Math Worksheets - This is a mental math curriculum I've written. It is completed for 8th grade and for Algebra I. For each course 30 mental math strategies are explained/modeled, applied, and practiced.
Highlights for workshop:
- Multiply a Fraction Times a Number by Dividing then Multiplying. ('Algebra I' strategy #17 of 30)
- To Multiply by 5 Multiply by 10 and divide by 2. ('Algebra I' strategy #26 of 30)
Online Math Textbooks - This is a Learnist board of available (free) online mathematics textbooks.
Highlights for workshop:
- SAS Curriculum Pathways - mainly HS
- BigIdeasMath.com - mainly JrHigh and Algebra I

These problems are similar to the Delivery Trucks problem. They align with standard A-SSE.1. We wrote these problems during the workshop. (While sand in trucks is nice, these problems are in contexts of closer interest to teenagers. ;-)
- Double Team
- Family Vehicles (2 versions)
