- Description: Join the WIU history department for a public talk by two students. Peyton Ward will share his research on the impacts of the steel mill Northwestern Steel & Wire in its 100 years of existence in Sterling and Rock Falls, Illinois. Aaron Kennelly will share his research on Illinois coal mines' use of African-Americans as "strike breakers" during the Illinois "mine wars " in the early 20th century. Off-campus?
