5th Annual Women’s History Month Lecture: “Trailblazing Women in Business and Labor”
The Fifth Annual Women’s History Month Lecture, titled “Trailblazing Women in Business and Labor,” will take place on Thursday, March 23rd, at 4:30 PM. Sponsored by the WIU Department of History and WIU Libraries, the panel will be hosted in the Malpass Library Garden Lounge.
Dr. Ginny Boynton, Dr. Ute Chamberlin, and Dr. Jen McNabb, all from WIU’s History department, will discuss women’s achievements in business and labor – as guild members in early modern England, as entrepreneurs in 19th and 20th century Germany, and as labor organizers in 20th century United States.
“Women in Business and Labor” is the theme put forth by the Women’s History Project for 2017’s Women’s History Month. “We always look forward to celebrating this month with an event,” said Dr. Chamberlain. “It’s always a great opportunity to remind people of the importance of women’s unique contributions historically.”
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Outreach Librarian Christina Norton at ca-norton@wiu.edu or 309-298- 3298.
