Waiter holding a silver platter with the text Try It! Illinois.

University Libraries is once again participating in the Try-It! Illinois 2010 program. Sponsored by Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White and the Illinois State Library, Try-It! Illinois 2010 is an annual state-wide database trial. From now until November 30, 2010 library users can access a multitude of different databases, covering a variety of subject areas free of charge.

Access the Try-It! Illinois 2010

Visit our website at https://www.wiu.edu/library/databases/trials/index.sphp and then click on the title and that will take you to the Try-It! Illinois 2010 website. You will need to contact the Reference Desk at 309-298-2700 or through our Ask a Librarian page at https://www.wiu.edu/libraries/help/. The Illinois State Library has asked that we not mass distribute the user name and password. Once you have the user name and password you can log on and start reviewing the thousands of databases available. A complete list of databases can be found at http://209.174.179.54/cgi-bin/tryit/dbsAvailable.pl.

With the budget situation as it is, it is unlikely University Libraries will be purchasing any additional databases this fiscal year. However, we are extremely interested in your reflections and interests in any databases you sampled that we haven’t purchased. Please feel free to pass your comments and suggestions on to Jeffrey Matlak, Electronic Resources Librarian at JG-Matlak@wiu.edu.
