Lincoln Exhibit Coming to University Libraries

A museum quality exhibit, Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War, is coming to the Leslie F. Malpass Library, October 7, 2010 through November 18, 2010. The exhibit offers a fresh perspective on Abraham Lincoln’s presidency. It is organized by six themes, and explores how Lincoln used the Constitution to confront three intertwined crises of the Civil War – the secession of Southern states, slavery, and wartime civil liberties. Western Illinois University is the only institution in Illinois to present the exhibit. It features three large panels with images on all three sides and will be displayed in the Garden Lounge. The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular library hours. University Libraries is pleased to host the Lincoln Exhibit in conjunction with the Department of History. Middle and High School teachers interested in bringing a class to view the exhibit should also contact Dr. Roberts.

Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War
A traveling exhibition for libraries, was organized by the National Constitution Center and the American Library Association Public Programs Office. The traveling exhibition has been made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War is based on an exhibition of the same name developed by the National Constitution Center.
