Borrowing Policies for CARLI to Change

Carli logo with the text Changes

The entity that facilitates the University Libraries´ I-Share program, CARLI (Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois) is changing their borrowing policies effective August 4, 2010. The purpose of these changes is to standardize borrowing policies for all libraries across the consortium.

These changes will effect borrowing periods, number of renewals allowed, and recalls that become overdue as well as the ability of patrons to borrow through the consortium due to overdue books, lost books, and/or accumulated fines. The changes specifically include limiting the borrowing time to 28 days. Patrons can still renew the item, even if overdue, but the renewal length is also limited to 28 days and will now begin from the current due date, instead of the renewal date. Items can only be renewed three times. Items not renewed or returned will now be declared lost after 29 days. The chart below details the effective changes.
