Tutoring in the Malpass Library

The Writing Center will be offering tutoring at the Malpass Library!

Librarians at the Malpass Library Reference Desk help students daily who are looking for resources for writing assignments large and small, from master's theses to one-page position papers. Likewise the consultants who tutor at the WIU Writing Center guide and instruct students in their writing, helping them to express themselves clearly and providing a firm foundation for work in their academic tasks and beyond. Now students can make use of both the University Libraries and the Writing Center simultaneously. Beginning Monday, September 8, Writing Center consultants will be holding regular walk-in sessions on the 2nd level of the Malpass Library. The sessions will be held during term in the 2008-2009 academic year on Sundays and Mondays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. According to Dr. Neil Baird, Writing Center director and assistant professor in the Department of English and Journalism, "We'll be offering writing tutoring in any discipline, at any level, and at any point in the writing process." "The Malpass Library has always been a go-to place for people working on writing assignments," says Dr. Jeffery Darensbourg, marketing and outreach librarian at Western, "Having the combined expertise of the Libraries and the Writing Center in one place will be a great service to our students."
