Email: NM-Pierson@wiu.edu Nicole Pierson, EdD, CCC-SLP/L joined the WIU Speech Pathology and Audiology faculty in 2017. Dr. Pierson teaches/ has taught SPA100 (Introduction to Communication Disorders), SPA312 (Normal Language Development), SPA391 (Auditory System and Hearing Loss), SPA515 (Autism and Other Special Populations) SPA521 (Public School Methods for SLPs) and SPA550 (Audiology for the SLP). In addition to teaching, Dr. Pierson runs the WIU Autism Clinic of Excellence (WACE) in partnership with the psychology and nursing program. She also designed and runs the Speech Sprouts program, which is a class designed for children ages 0-4 and their caregivers. She is passionate about family centered, neuro-affirming therapy practices. Additionally, Dr. Pierson provides clinical supervision to graduate student clinicians off campus in local school districts. Dr. Pierson proudly obtained all three of her degrees from WIU. Her bachelor of science was awarded in 2009; masters of science in speech-language pathology in 2013, and doctorate of education in 2025. Dr. Pierson is licensed to practice in the state of Illinois, holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds the professional educator's license (PEL).
