Alice Bennett Kellogg Kinesiology Scholarship

HISTORY: Alice Bennett Kellogg was a ’52 MS ’69 graduate of WIU and is a legendary name on the Western Illinois University Macomb campus and in the Macomb community. Before her retirement, Alice was a Physical Education major and taught physical education at WIU for 26 years. Her main interest was tennis. She also mentored countless students and has made significant gifts to WIU. Alice passed away on September 29, 2014. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Maurice Kellogg, who taught science education for many years at WIU. This scholarship is funded by a bequest from Alice.

CRITERIA:

  • Incoming freshman
  • Minimum 21 ACT or be in the top 10% of high school graduating class
  • Major as a Teacher Education in the Department of Kinesiology
  • High school honors and participation in extra-curricular activities, clubs, and organizations will be considered

TERMS: Award amount is determined by the annual interest earnings on the endowment.
In any year in which there are no qualified applicants, income may be accumulated or reinvested in the endowment at the discretion of the administrator of the fund. When accumulated income is sufficient for more than one scholarship, two or more recipients may be selected.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Recipients will be selected by the Foundation scholarship selection committee.
