RPTH Student Resources
Advising

Academic advising is the process between the student and an academic advisor of exploring the value of a general education, reviewing the services and policies of the institution, discussing educational and career plans, and making appropriate course selections. The mission of academic advising is to assist students in their growth and development by constructing meaningful educational plans which are compatible with their life goals. It is a continuous and consistent process which is built upon the basis of frequent, accumulated personal contacts between advisor and advisee1.

Advisors will assist you with major/minor course planning, registration and scheduling, and tracking academic progress in your degree. In addition, departmental advisors will help you understand WIU and RPTH policies and procedures, as well as helping to guide you during academic difficulties and appeals.

Transfer students should reach out to our advisors once they are admitted to the program. All students are required to have at least one appointment with your advisor prior to registration to get your Advisor Hold removed. Advisors begin meeting with students the second week of classes to plan for upcoming semesters.
