ERIC Identifiers are similar to Descriptors in that they describe some aspect of an article's content. Identifiers are either personal nouns, geographic place names, or descriptors under consideration. For instance, the record under consideration contains the Identifiers, American Library Association and lesbian literature, "American Library Association" is the name of corporate body. Lesbian Literature is a potential descriptor--which is why you won't find it in the current ERIC Thesaurus. It's not an accepted descriptor yet--and never may be.
