ISSN stands for International Standard Serial Number. Every journal indexed in ERIC will have a unique ISSN. The fact that ISSNs are unique makes them very useful for conducting searches in ERIC or most any other database that allows ISSN searches. Using an ISSN you don't have to worry whether or not you are spelling the magazine's name correctly or whether another magazine has the same name, which happens more frequently than you might imagine.
