Bookmarklets are tiny programs made of  java script that run in the URL slot in your browser. Being tiny doesn't mean they aren't big up useful. Au contraire as they say 4327 miles northeast of Macomb. Bookmarklets are very handy when searching or when working on web pages.  For example, there is a bookmarklet that will let you highlight text on any web page, click your mouse, and yowzie, a Google search is run on that text. To install a bookmarklet, simply right click on it and drag it into the links bar on your browser or make it a bookmark or favorite.
 
Bookmarklets are easy to find. Bookmarklets.com  has a large list.  Here is another list, Jesse's Bookmarklets. And another.
