Program Goals:

The primary goal of our research group is to provide a hands-on research experience for our undergraduate and graduate students. Through this experience, students can learn proper techniques for planning and carrying out a Physics experiment without the aid of a laboratory manual or a known solution. This program also gives students a chance to gain experience in the use of computers as tools for data acquisition and analysis. Finally, the superconductivity research program allows students the opportunity to present their findings in the form of papers, posters, presentations, and seminars so that they can gain experience in technical writing and public speaking.

Areas of Focus:

Effects of Cobalt Doping on YBa2Cu3O7-x

Effects of Neutron Irradiation on In-field Critical Current Density in HoBa2Cu3O7-x

Field Dependence of Critical Current Density in (RE) Ba2Cu 3O7-x where RE = Y, Yb, Er, Dy, and Ho

Transport Current Dependence of Critical Magnetic Field in (RE) Ba2Cu3O7-x where RE = Y, Yb, and Er
