Spectroscopy Research Group

The WIU Physics Department has an optical spectroscopy laboratory in Currens Hall 524 under the direction of Professor Mark S. Boley. Equipped with a high-power argon ion laser and a computer controlled Triax 550 spectrometer, along with a closed-cycle helium refrigeration system, low-temperature and room temperature experiments can be performed using the techniques of Raman scattering and photoluminescence.
