The image above is of Lord ganesh,
who is considered to be the God of wisdom.
He is also called Vignaharta,
meaning one who can remove all the hurdles. Hence he is the first deity
one should pray before starting any new task, according to Hindu mythology.
The verse means: Oh Lord, carrying the power of million Suns,
please remove all the hurdles in all the tasks that I take up.
Personally I like this particular deity of all because of his cute
countenance and his intelligent personality as portrayed in the
mythological stories. I am not particularily religious,
I would rather call myself agnostic.

I am from Maharashtra,
a Marathi speaking state in INDIA, so is my wife Aparna. I am currently working at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena as a National Research Council Research Associate.
Here is my name in the list of awardees for Oct 2003.
I hold a Ph.D. degree in Physics with specialization in Theoretical Quantum Optics at Department
of Physics,Texas A & M University. I did my schooling at Kalyan
in Capt. R. M. Oak High School. After that I did my twelfth and B.Sc.(physics)
from KET'S V.G.Vaze College, Mulund, Mumbai. Then I did my Masters in Physics
at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. The city of Bombay is now known as Mumbai.
My wife Aparna is from the Orange city of India, Nagpur. She holds M.C.A. (Master of Computer Applications) degree from Amravati University.
She recently completed her Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Azusa Pacific University.
