How to Activate Your WIU Computer Username and Password and Gain Access to the Westernonline Course Materials (and Gain Access to Your WIU E-mail)

Use the following steps to activate your username and set up a password. This is all done on-line using a browser (Internet Explorer recommended, or Netscape). This takes only about 5 to 10 minutes. If you have trouble, call the University Computer Support Services Information Desk at 309-298-1177, or the helpdesk at 298-2704.

How to Activate Your WIU (Ecom*) Username and Set up a Password

New students go to the Account Activation page at https://www.wiu.edu/guava/account-activation/

To Gain Access to Westernonline Course Materials

  1. Go to https://westernonline.wiu.edu/. or use the Web Tools link on the wiu.edu home page (see graphic).
  2. Use your Ecom* ID to log in.

To View Your WIU E-mail (WebMail)

  1. Go to the WIU homepage www.wiu.edu
  2. Hover over Web Tools in the upper left-hand corner.
  3. Click WebMail.

*If you don't know your ecom username you may be able to find it by using the "Online Phonebook (Ph Lookup)" (http://www.wiu.edu/cgi-bin/ph.cgi?ns.wiu.edu). It will be listed as "unix_login:".
