How to Access the NCTM Standards

The Principles and Standards for School Mathematics was published in 2000 by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). This is a very important document in mathematics education. This can be accessed in book form and electronically.

  1. Book form. The printed book is in most libraries, including Leslie F. Malpass Library, Curriculum Library (Horrabin), Mathematics Education Resource Office (MERO, Morgan 209), all on the WIU Macomb Campus, and the WIU-Quad Cities Library in Moline, IL.
  2. Electronic Form - Full Document. Through the NCTM Standards web site you can view the full document as a member or sign up for a 90-Day Free Access.
  3. Electronic Form - Brief Version. Follow this link and then click any of the regions on the left side and along the top to pick the content or process area and/or the grade level.
